Tanzania - Authentic Africa

Tanzania  is a land of diverse and beautiful surroundings, with a wealth of natural resources. Situated between the azure Indian Ocean and the Great Rift Valley, it offers:

* Over one quarter of its land mass is dedicated to National Parks, Game Reserves and Game Controlled Areas, which gives Tanzania more land dedicated to National Parks than any other country in the world. From the largest Game Reserve in Africa (The Selous, 19,293 square miles), declared a World Heritage Site in 1982, to one of the smallest (Gombe Stream, with its chimpanzee population) and from one of the best known (the Serengeti) to the least (Mahale Mountains).

* The highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro, 19,340 feet (and the eighth highest, Meru (14,979 feet)
* The Serengeti ecosystem and it's attendant migration.
* The collapsed caldera, wildlife miracle and World Heritage Site of the Ngorongoro Crater, said to be the Eighth Wonder of the World!
* Olduvai Gorge - the “birthplace of Man”.
* Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara Park along the Great Rift Valley
* A wonderful coastline on the Indian Ocean, and three beautiful islands - Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia. Zanzibar, the spice island is a draw in itself.

The local people and culture are a cosmopolitan blend owing to her colorful history as a major trading area. Out of the 120 tribes that populate Tanzania the most famous are the Maasai who still live traditional tribal lives. These herdsmen are deeply connected to nature and their dignified figures can often be seen striding across the plains tending their herds.

The natural heritage is fiercely protected as Tanzania boasts a number of national parks which cover an incredible 25% of her land area.  These parks are world famous for their beauty and profusion of wild life as they are home to 20% of Africa's' large mammal population, serving as safe- havens for rare and threatened species like the Black Rhino and the Black maned lion.   Visitors can rest assured that they will see the Big Five,  colorful birds and trees, many of which are endemic.
